Huggy Bears Program

Each month, a small volunteer group constructs, sews, stuffs, and delivers 30 soft, cuddly bears to be presented to children who arrive at the Emergency Room needing some comfort. Volunteers are needed for this program, if you are available call the PCF office.  No experience necessary!

"Huggy Bear" Recipient Hadley

Hadley's Mom sent an Email to the Foundation with the following  Thank You!!

"Recently my 5 year old split her head open, which required an ER run for stitches.

During triage, the nurse gave her a little stuffed bear to hug. Though I was holding her the whole time, the bear provided a comfort to her that I didn't expect.

It wasn't easy -- five stitches. I saw the bear had a little tag that it was provided by the Plantation Community Foundation, and wanted to write to you to thank you for the extra comfort you provided in a rough night.

She's all smiles now. Thank you!"

The "Huggy Bear" Committee consists of Eileen Kruzynski and the following volunteers stuffing and sewing the bears:  Rita Yanotti, Jackie Smith, John Graft, Betty Graham, Cyndi Cefalu, Barb Schneck, Donna Sherman, Marcia Major, Toni Walls, Paula Dawson.
