We recently concluded our fund-raising activities, and I'm happy and grateful to report that we achieved our goal and were able to award $120,000 this year. Our Royal Ride, Celebrity Classic, and Spring Fashion Show activities were all very successful and involved many wonderful volunteers. To each Foundation member, volunteer and event participant, we express our sincere appreciation.

On April 6th we presented a check to Habitat for Humanity for $16,000 to sponsor a project to paint 12 homes over the next year.  The project is called “A Brush with Kindness,” and you will be hearing more about it over the next few months.  As always we will be looking for volunteers to “man those brushes”.

We hosted our annual Grant Award Luncheon on April 12. Grants were awarded to 49 agencies and organizations totaling $120,000. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to make those awards to so many organizations that do so much good in our community, that help us "Make a Difference.”

Impact Grant

The 2017 Impact Grant awarded to Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County is presented to Aimee Holmes, Chief Develpment Officer.

The Foundation has generously partnered with Habitat to lauch a new home revitalization program, A Brush with Kindness. The award of $16,000, along with paint donated by Sherwin Williams, will be used to paint one home per month for a qualified homeowner.  This is a one-year program that will benefit income-qualified homewoners in need. It is Habitat's intent to help South Sarasota's most vulnerable population revitalize their homes with pride and dignity.

The Englewood Community Care Clinic, Inc. dedicated the beginning of its compact new laboratory to the Plantation Community Foundation.  Members of the Foundation's Impact Grant Committee, Foundation Board Members, Clinic volunteers and the Executive Director attended a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The Clinic plans to add equipment to its lab with the remaining $12,000 in funds from the grant.
