Join the Plantation Community Foundation!
You’re invited to be on our team! January 1st markes the beginning of our year. In 2018, the Foundation donated $122,500 to charities in South Sarasota County. We also funded a grant
to Literacy Volunteers for a study-computer lab. It was a fantastic year! Please consider becoming a member. We have more than 290 members here at Plantation but would love to have
you join us to “Make a Difference” in our community!
Lets make this Year the best ever for those who need a little help in South County. If we resolve to do a little more volunteering this year, your Foundation will have a great year. This will result in the award of 48 Grants in April.
If each of us mentions to friends and neighbors the importance of the Foundation to the quality of life for many in South County, our membership will grow. The impact we have on the less fortunate in South County will be overwhelming. Let us all resolve to “Make a Difference”.
Please stop by the office or speak to any board member about the best way you can get involved to “Make a Difference” in the local community and enjoy the rewards of service. The rewards do not expire...they last a lifetime.
During the months of October, November and December all renewing or new PCF members had their name placed in a drawing for:
$200 gift certificate from Reflections In Gold
$100 Visa Card from Bambi & Ford Utton
(Michael Saunders Realtors at 941-228-4881)
$50 Gift Card to Cassariano Italian Eatery

We are privileged and fortunate to live in this community. As such, whether we are American citizens or a citizen of another country, we are motivated to make our community better for everyone who lives here by giving something back … to “Make a Difference”
Membership is the life blood of our organization, and our many volunteers are the engine that makes a difference in the community. Take a quick look at the Grants portion of this site to get a detailed view of all we accomplish each year.
Join us to experience the success of achieving a common goal, and to experience the joy and satisfaction of seeing the fundraising results and volunteerism benefiting those in South County. You will be glad you did!
With your help we will continue to make a difference in a lot of homes in South County.
Please help us by telling your friends and neighbors about how the Foundation improves the quality of life right here in our own “back yard”. We find that many residents are aware of the Foundation but often think we are a part of the Golf Club. They often join when they become aware that we are a separate organization focused on our mission of giving back to the local community in social services, education, health services, and support to the arts.
Our membership year is January through December, so plan on being part of our 2018 Membership Drive.
The 2018 Impact Grant was awarded to Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County. President Bob Hayden and the Impact Grant Committee presented the grant check to Joe Pokorney, LVSSC President, and Claudia Daniels, grant writer and Board Member.
The award of $19,271, will be used to fund a Study-Lab Program located in the Family Services Center, North Port, FL. This location brings together a variety of social service agencies that provide assistance to those who need it.
A dedicated study-lab will provide a safe and welcoming space for students to meet with tutors, utilize computer equipment, and attend classes. The number of students has increased 73% from 2010 to 2017. LVSSC has helped 343 students from 48 different countries in 2016/2017.
The 2017 Impact Grant awarded to Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County is presented to Aimee Holmes, Chief Develpment Officer.
The Foundation has generously partnered with Habitat to lauch a new home revitalization program, A Brush with Kindness. The award of $16,000, along with paint donated by Sherwin Williams, will be used to paint one home per month for a qualified homeowner. This is a one-year program that will benefit income-qualified homewoners in need. It is Habitat's intent to help South Sarasota's most vulnerable population revitalize their homes with pride and dignity.
The Englewood Community Care Clinic, Inc. dedicated the beginning of its compact new laboratory to the Plantation Community Foundation. Members of the Foundation's Impact Grant Committee, Foundation Board Members, Clinic volunteers and the Executive Director attended a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Clinic plans to add equipment to its lab with the remaining $12,000 in funds from the grant.
